We should consider another stadium – Ex-Super Eagles star calls for change of venue for Nigeria’s home matches

Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has advocated for a change of venue for the Super Eagles’ home matches, citing the team’s poor run of form at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The Super Eagles drew 1-1 with Zimbabwe on Tuesday, marking their third consecutive draw in Uyo in the World Cup qualifiers.

This follows stalemates with Lesotho and South Africa, as well as a 2-1 loss to Rwanda in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Udeze expressed his concerns on Brila FM, stating, “I think we should consider another stadium because we’ve been drawing too many matches at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.”

He emphasized the importance of exploring alternative venues, suggesting that the team’s struggles in Uyo may be due to the familiarity of the opposition with the stadium.

Currently, the Godswill Akpabio Stadium is the only approved home ground for the Super Eagles’ international matches.
