The Crested Cranes are in preparations for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers later this month.
The Uganda women’s national soccer team has dealt a huge blow ahead of the continental play-offs.
The latest development shows that towering defender Shadia Nankya is set to miss the double confrontation against the Lucy of Ethiopia on 21st and 26th February, 2025.
Unveiled by National Women’s Soccer League side Washington Spirit a few days ago, Shadia won’t represent Uganda in the February window due to an injury setback.
The former Masar player was also absent at the November gathering when the Crested Cranes battled North African Opposition Algeria in two test series.
Aisha Nantongo will now fill her vacuum as she has joined the rest of her national team-mates at Paradise Hotel, Kisasi.
This brings the total of overseas stars to five following the arrival of Joanita Ainembabazi, Bridget Nabisaalu, Resty Nanziri, and striker Fazila Ikwaput on Friday.
