Vipers take Title hunt to Wankulukuku as Villa crave stopping the venoms

Viper’s attempt at winning a 7th Uganda Premier League title faces another test this Saturday at Muteesa II Stadium as they battle defending champions.

The venoms are currently top of the table, with 49 points and hosts SC Villa who have had struggles this season are 9th with 27 points in 20 games.

In the previous league fixtures, Vipers SC were 1-0 victors over Wakiso Giants in a closely contested Wakiso derby at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

SC Villa, on the other hand, beat Soltilo Bright Stars 3-1 at Kavumba Recreation Ground, securing their first victory on the road in the current campaign.

Earlier in October, Vipers overcame the Jogoos in a 2-1 win at home, Yunus Sentamu and Torach on target for the venoms while Hakim Kiwanuka strike halved the deficit.

This showdown in Wankulukuku will be the 39th meetings between Vipers and Villa in the Uganda top-tier, with the former holding the lion’s share of victories.

Vipers have registered 16 wins, 14 stalemates and eight defeats, scoring 48 goals and conceding 35 in a duel that pits two teams who have etched their names in history of the league.
