Vipers SC back on the road this Thursday, April 24 visit Maroons FC at Luzira Prisons Grounds on day one of match day 25 in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.
Vipers, top the of standings with 56 points, come into this game on the back of decent results, dispatched fellow title chasers NEC FC 3-1 in last league outing and 1-0 triumph over SC Villa Uganda Cup.
Maroons, on the other hand, have proved over time to be a stumbling block for the visiting teams in Luzira and will be eager to bounce back to winning ways after Wednesday’s 2-1 loss against UPDF in Bombo.
Speaking ahead of upcoming assignment, Venoms coach Fred Muhumuza acknowledged Maroons stubbornness and resistance but expects his troops to navigate past them as they continue their pursuit for glory.
“We respect Maroons. They’ve always been a tricky side, especially at home. But our job is to stay focused, control what we can, and play our football.” Said Muhumuza
He added, “This is another opportunity for the boys to show character, maturity, and hunger. We’re approaching it with seriousness but also calmness. It’s one step at a time.”
A total of 19 League meetings between the two sides, Vipers have never suffered a defeat at the hands of Maroons, winning 12 and drawing 7 in the process. In the reverse fixture, the Venoms pipped Maroons 1-0 in Kitende.
Elsewhere, Express FC seeking to seal a double over UPDF FC, host the Army side later in the day under the floodlights at the newly re-developed Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
