BuL FC maintained their unbeaten run in the second round with a hard fought 1-0 victory over SC Villa in matchday 22 of Uganda Premier League.
Jeromy Kirya’s first half was the difference-maker that separated the two giants at the refurbished FUFA Technical Center on Friday evening.
The match became slightly more lively after the quarter-hour, with both sides having observed each other at the start, offering few chances of threat.
BuL came close to scoring three minutes later but Karim Ndugwa bullet header was denied by the woodwork, keeping the score at even mark.
The Eastern giants finally broke the deadlock in the 21st minute, Jeromy Kirya expertly beat his marker, slotting the ball home to put the hosts ahead.
Villa tried to react quickly, with first chance falling on Aslam Semakula whose effort went in the skies before Ngonde free-kick that hit the cross bar at the interval.
BuL almost extended the lead after recess through Bakali Magumba’s perfect header off Swabir Mpasa’s well-crafted cross that was also thwarted by the woodwork.
Morley Byekwaso made a double in the 60th minute, Patrick Kakande and Najib Yiga paving way for Sula Matovu and Reagan Mpande respectively in pursuit of a leveler.
Isaac Musiima who came off the bench had his goal ruled out due to offside late in the 85th minute as the Eastern giants defensive block held firm until the final whistle.
BuL, consolidated their place in the third position, now on 39 points while travelers and defending champions remained 8th on the log with 30th points.
