Matchday sixteen of the Finance Trust Women Super League came to an end on Sunday, with three games across different venues in the country.
The most talking and controversial point was at St. Gerald Stadium where Uganda Martyrs was playing Wakiso Hill, an encounter that was overshadowed by a players’ fight on the turf.
A goalless draw at the break, drama unfolded after restart when both teams were reduced to ten players for the unsporting behavior witnessed by Referee Agwokutho Sande Robert.
In the 63th minute, moments after the visitors had found a breakthrough via a penalty spot, punches and kicks were exchanged between Martyrs forward Brenda Munyana and Teopista Apino.
The heated brawl stems from the scene when a challenge was done on Munyana at edge of the box by Judith Mawuwa but unsurprisingly close team-mate Teopista started a fight with the fouled player.
The two athletes received a red card each as Uganda Martyrs came from a goal down to beat Wakiso Hill 2-1 in a dramatic showdown in Lubaga, Latifah Nakasi brace cancelling out Loy Ndagire’s goal.
In other games staged on the day, Kawempe Muslim stumbled at home, sharing spoils with Amus College in a 1-1 stalemate while Tooro Queens made it two wins in a row after a 1-0 triumph against She Maroons in Luzira.
