Uganda’s readiness for AFCON in Morocco tested by Burkina

Uganda U-17 national team (Cubs) played their first International friendly game against Burkina Faso on Sunday in Morocco.

The contest ended 3-2 in favor of the West Africans, a slight difference of Uganda’s numerical figure.

Issouf Bakara, Alassane Bagayoko and Mohamed Sacko were on target for Burkina Faso while Ssozi Derrick and Bogere netted for the CECAFA champions.

Uganda is expected to have more test series before the start of the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (CHAN) tournament in North Africa.

Uganda making a second appearance at the continental showpiece will to hope to go past the group-stages for the first time ever with an aim to secure a slot at World Cup finals.

Brian Ssenyondo’s youth side are in group A alongside hosts Morocco, Tanzania, and COSAFA representatives, Zambia.

A historic moment awaits Uganda who battle favorites Morocco in the opening fixture of the 15th edition on Monday, March 31, 2025.
