A cross-section of football revellers are in shock and surprised after omission of one of senior players in the squad that left the country on Sunday.
Twenty players were named by head coach Sheryl Botes for the second leg of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifier against Ethiopia.
All members that appeared on the match day roster on Friday retained their spots except third captain Ruth Aturo and injured Bridget Nabisaalu.
The case of goalkeeper Aturo who kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over the Lucy at Hamz Stadium has sparked a debate, with the decision to drop the player yet to be known.
The roster has two custodians namely Kampala Queens player Daisy Nakaziro on bench last time out and youth goalkeeper Nakiirya Lilian.
About four years ago, in the same qualifiers Aturo was the hero for Uganda in Addis Ababa when the ladies team defeated hosts Ethiopia 2-1 in penalty shoot-outs to return to WAFCON for the first time in over two decades.
