The Pepsi University Football League climaxed on Sunday, 27 April as Uganda Martyrs became the most successful side after emerging Champions for the 2024/25 season.
Uganda Martyrs University, coached by Eric Kisuze, registered a commanding 3-0 victory over St. Lawrence (SLAU) in a grand finale held at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
This was a repeat of the 2022 final that took place at MTN Omondi Stadium, where the Saints narrowly pipped the unlucky St. Lawrence 1-0 in Lugogo.
Uganda Martyrs dominant from onset, were 2-0 up already by the end of the opening half, Mpigi based outfit on brink of a third crown in the competitions’ history.
Emayo Calvin Peter drew the first blood in the 35th minute, before Sseruwunge extending the advantage with a spectacular long-range strike ahead of the break.
Uganda Martyrs determined to maintain their unbeaten and perfect streak in their voyage, sealed the emphatic result through Ronald Obedgiu in the 55th minute.
In the third-place playoff, Bugema University edged Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) 1-0, with Innocent Masuk scoring the decesive goal to secure the bronze medal.
