Uganda in line to face South Africa, Algeria at CHAN finals

The fate to know Uganda final CHAN group opponents drew closer following the conclusion of first round of Qualifiers in the pathway to fill the remaining 2 slots.

The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) draw conducted in January, saw Uganda get a partial group, with the rest of teams to be determined later.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled a mini-tournament, consisting of 7 countries to take part in bid to complete the puzzle in group C that has Uganda, Guinea and Niger.

The first round of the play-offs came to an end, arriving to the ultimate phase where to assess which teams join the others in pool C at the continental showpiece.

South Africa overcame North Africa opposition, Egypt, the Scorpions of Gambia squeezed past Gabon as impressive Malawi dumped out Comoros.

The last round of qualifiers will be played in May with the first leg taking place between May 2-4, while the return leg fixtures are scheduled for May 10-11

Gambia 0-0 Gabon (February 28, 2025)
Comoros 0-2 Malawi (March 2, 2025)
South Africa 1-1 Egypt (March 2, 2025)

Second Leg Fixtures:
Malawi 2-0 Comoros – March 8, 2025 – Malawi win 4-0 on aggregate
Gabon 0-0 Gambia – March 8, 2025 – Gambia win on penalties
Egypt 1-3 South Africa – March 9, 2025 – South Africa win 4-2 on aggregate
