Having established a strong foundation with a 3-1 win in the first leg in Pretoria, the Flamingos entered the second leg with confidence. Despite South Africa’s determination to overturn the deficit and secure their third World Cup appearance, the Flamingos proved too strong.

The Nigerian team dominated the match, with Harmony Chidi continuing her impressive form from the first leg by scoring again. Aishat Animashaun also found the net, sealing a comfortable 2-0 victory for the Flamingos.

With this victory, the Flamingos have progressed to the final round of the qualifiers, where they will face either Botswana or Algeria in April. The winner of that tie will secure a coveted spot at the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, joining the host nation and three other African teams in the tournament.
