They just want to be unique - Reactions trail Kwara United's ‘Trailer Trophy Parade’

Kwara United’s decision to conduct their historic Federation Cup trophy parade on a trailer, rather than a more traditional open-top bus, has sparked a flurry of reactions across social media.

The Harmony Boys clinched the 2025 President Federation Cup title on Saturday in Lagos, ending a 49-year wait for a major national trophy by defeating Abakaliki FC in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Their U-19 team also secured victory in the inaugural National Youth League.

To celebrate these dual triumphs, the club organised a grand trophy parade on Monday, for both the Senior and U-19 teams.

The parade commenced from Eyenkorin, snaking through various routes in the Ilorin Metropolis before culminating at the Banquet Hall, Government House, where the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, hosted the victorious teams.

While trophy parades are a common sight for victorious football clubs, Kwara United’s choice of a large trailer as the mode of transport for their celebration has drawn particular attention with one user speculating, “Maybe they just want to be unique, yunno??”

Another user identified as Toyosi added, “Can’t they learn from Remo Stars?”

Adding to the heat, Eleniyan of Ilorin said, “This is nonsense. There are no protection and preventive measures. Hàáà, God!🤦🏿‍♂️”

Images and videos circulating online show players and the coveted trophies perched atop the flatbed of a truck, prompting amused and curious comments from fans and observers.
