Remo Stars have celebrated Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa after scoring against Rivers United on matchday 35 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Kano Pillars defeated Rivers 2-0 on Friday as the win significantly impacted the NPFL title race, denting Rivers United’s aspirations and boosting Kano Pillars’ chances of securing a coveted continental ticket.
Ahmed Musa broke the deadlock four minutes past the hour mark, while Rabiu Ali sealed the win with a penalty in the 74th minute.
Reacting after the game, Remo stars said on X, “That’s why you scored a brace alongside Messi in a World Cup game! The Guvnor 🙌😃”
The result propelled Kano Pillars to sixth position on the league table with 50 points.
The win also had implications for the top of the table, with Remo Stars celebrating Musa’s brace and edging closer to the NPFL title. A victory against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday would see Remo Stars crowned champions.
Rivers United’s defeat leaves them facing an uphill battle to catch league leaders Remo Stars, who currently sit atop the NPFL standings with 65 points.
