Super Eagles star torments Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in Europa League Clash

Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers continued his impressive form, scoring a goal and providing an assist as Rangers secured a 3-1 victory over Fenerbahçe in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Dessers found the net in the 6th minute, firing a precise shot into the bottom right corner after being set up by Mohammed Diomande. He then celebrated with an audacious pose, recreating Mauro Icardi’s iconic celebration in front of the Fenerbahçe fans.

Fenerbahçe equalized through Alexander Djiku, but Rangers restored their lead before halftime courtesy of Vaclav Cerny’s clinical finish, set up by Dessers’ pinpoint pass.

In the second half, Dessers thought he had scored his second goal, but VAR intervened, ruling it out for an offside in the buildup. He was denied again by VAR, but Rangers sealed the win with Cerny’s second goal in the 81st minute.

Dessers received a standing ovation as he was substituted off in the 88th minute. His impressive performance extends his tally to 21 goals and five assists this season, with four goals in his last three games.

The 30-year-old Nigerian striker’s form has put him in contention for a spot in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the World Cup. Rangers fans will be hoping he continues his red-hot streak as the season progresses.
