Super Eagles get easy draw as Eric Chelle targets first AFCON triumph

The final draw of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was officially conducted on Monday, January 27 in Rabat, Morocco.

The highly anticipated draw was held at the Mohammed V National Theatre, with Nigeria legend Joseph Yobo a draw assistant on the night.

Nigeria, was drawn in group C alongside the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, who didn’t reach the knockouts at the last edition played in Ivory Coast.

The other two group opponents come from the East African region that is Tanzania and and the 2016 CAF National team of the year, Uganda.

Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle attended the draw ceremony in Morocco.

Twelve years gone since the Super Eagles lifted the AFCON title, Chelle will be at task to lead to the West African nation to to their fourth crown in the competitions history.

As a manager, this will be his second appearance at AFCON finals, the first one coming in 2023 with the Mali national team.

Group A: Morocco, Mali, Zambia, Comoros

Group B: Egypt, South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe

Group C: Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania

Group D: Senegal, DR Congo, Benin, Botswana

Group E: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Sudan

Group F: Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Gabon, Mozambique
