Super Eagles coach Eric Sekou Chelle is expected to announce his highly anticipated squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe today.
With Nigeria currently languishing in fifth place in Group C, having secured only three points from their first four matches, these upcoming fixtures are considered must-win encounters. The Super Eagles will travel to Rwanda on March 21st before hosting Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25th.

Chelle, who was appointed in late January with the mandate to salvage Nigeria’s World Cup campaign, has reportedly conducted extensive scouting both locally and in Europe to assemble his first squad.
“The list (of Super Eagles) for the match against Rwanda and Zimbabwe is ready and most likely, it could be released on Tuesday (today) or at worst before the end of the week,” a reliable source told NationSports.
Sources indicate that Chelle has compiled a list of 30 players, including standbys, to cover any potential emergencies during the crucial matches.
The squad is expected to feature familiar faces such as Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Calvin Bassey, and William Troost-Ekong. However, Chelle is also poised to extend invitations to former national team cadet players, striker Tolu Arokodare and defender Igoh Ogbu.
Arokodare has been in impressive form for Genk in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, scoring 16 goals in 28 matches. Ogbu has also made a significant impact in the Czech Super Liga with Slavia Praha.
