St Noa to play Ghana in battle for gold at African Schools Championship

Uganda will have a representative in one of the finals for glory this Saturday, 26 April, 2025 at the African Schools Football Championship (ASFC) taking place in Ghanian capital, Accra.

St Noa competing in the Girls category secured a slot in the decider following their 2-0 triumph over last year’s runners-up Morocco on Friday evening.

Riding on a 100 percent record winning record at the third edition, the East African giants showed determination once again, getting the job done against a North African opponent.

Giovanna Aketwanga broke the deadlock in the first stanza before Lydia Namaseruka sealed the victory that saw St Noa inch closer to making history.

The CECAFA Zonal winners will now lock horns with hosts and debutants Ghana who overcame defending champions South Africa 3-2 in the other oscillating Semi-final tie.

St Mary’s Kitende, meanwhile, were eliminated by 2024 Bronze medalists Senegal at the last-four phase in a dramatic 6-5 penalty shoot-out rout.

Preparing to participate in the third and fourth classification play-off, the boys will take on Ghana who earlier handed them 2-0 defeat on the opening day of the youthful U-15 competition.
