Rogers Mato scores a brace at Vardar on return from Cranes duty

The Uganda International was the hero at his parent club days after returning from the March International break with Uganda Cranes.

Rogers Mato netted a brace as FK Vardar registered a crucial 3-1 away victory over Pelister at Stadion Tumbe Kafe on Saturday evening in Bitola.

The derby didn’t come easy for the Skopje citizens who came from a goal down to reign supreme in match day 25 of the Macedonia Premiership.

A dominant display from the hosts in the opening half, they were rewarded with an early lead in the 10th minute through Vildan Kerim.

Ten minutes later, veteran Forward Goran Zakaric pulled off an equalizer for the visitors from the penalty spot, ending 1-1 at halftime.

The most defining moment for Vardar was the introduction of Mato, replacing Ediz Spahiu in the 63rd minute and going all way to score two goals.

Rogers Mato put the travelers ahead in the 75th minute before completing his brace with a stunning strike inside the forbidden area seven minutes later.

The former Proline and KCCA FC winger who was signed by Vardar in the winter transfer window extended his tally to six goals this season in the European territory.
