Remo Stars FC of Ikenne has been crowned the champion of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a thrilling 4-1 victory over Ikorodu City at the Remo Stars Stadium.
The win marks a historic moment for the club, the state of Ogun, and Nigerian football as a whole.
The Sky Blue Stars’ title triumph is their first-ever NPFL championship, achieved with 71 points. This feat is all the more remarkable considering it is the first time a privately-owned team has won the league in over two decades.
Remo Stars’ victory also marks a milestone for Ogun State, which had never produced a top-flight league champion since its creation in 1976.
The club’s success has brought jubilation to the state and the entire football community.
With one matchday left to play, Remo Stars are just two points shy of matching the second-highest points tally in NPFL history (73 points by Dolphins in the 2010/11 season).
Only Rivers United’s 77-point title run in the 2021/22 season remains ahead.
