Remo Stars Crowned 2024/25 NPFL Champions in Nervy Victory

Can anyone stop them? Remo Stars' 12-Point lead intensifies title race

Remo Stars have etched their name in Nigerian football history, clinching the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title after a tense 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Ikenne on Sunday.

The decisive moment came six minutes from time when Olamilekan Adedayo found the back of the net, sparking scenes of wild jubilation at the Remo Stars Stadium.

The narrow win was enough to secure the championship for Daniel Ogunmodede’s side.

With this victory, Remo Stars have amassed an unassailable 68 points from 35 games, leaving second-placed Rivers United trailing with 58 points from the same number of matches.

This triumph marks a significant milestone in Nigerian football history. Remo Stars become the first privately owned club to lift the NPFL trophy since the defunct Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996.

Furthermore, they are the first club from the South West region to win the league title since Julius Berger in the year 2000, ending a 25-year drought for the region.

The historic victory means that the “Sky Blue Stars” of Ikenne will represent Nigeria in the prestigious CAF Champions League next season, a testament to their remarkable journey and the dedication of the club, its players, and its passionate fanbase.
