Premier League Clubs want Victor Boniface

Boniface

Several Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen. The Nigerian forward’s estimated transfer fee is around €50m, but Leverkusen’s willingness to sell, either in January or the summer transfer window, remains to be seen.

Despite injury setbacks this season, Boniface has made a significant impact for Leverkusen, currently sitting as their third-highest league goalscorer with six goals. His scoring ability has also been on display in both the Super Cup and the Champions League.

However, the emergence of Patrik Schick and the recent acquisition of Argentine forward Alejo Sarco have cast some doubt on Boniface’s guaranteed starting role within the Leverkusen squad. This uncertainty has alerted several Premier League clubs, who are reportedly monitoring the situation closely.

In positive news for both the player and the club, Boniface recently returned from injury, being named on the bench for Leverkusen’s Champions League match against Atletico Madrid (which they lost 2-1). While he didn’t feature in the game, his inclusion in the squad signals manager Xabi Alonso’s intention to reintegrate him into the team.

With Leverkusen aiming to defend their Bundesliga title and progress in the Champions League, Boniface’s contributions will be vital. His immediate focus will be on regaining full fitness and reclaiming his place in the starting XI. While aware of the Premier League interest, Boniface’s current priority remains helping Leverkusen achieve their season objectives.
