Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has thrown his weight behind the growing calls for the club to sign Victor Osimhen, insisting that the Napoli striker’s price tag should not deter the Premier League giants from making a move.
Osimhen, 26, is reportedly available for €75 million, and while his wage demands are significant, Scholes believes the deal remains “doable” — even without Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.
“I think Osimhen is free to leave Napoli this summer. It sounds like a doable one,” Scholes said during an appearance on The Overlap Fan Debate. “When you talk about financial problems, he could be doable.”
The former United midfielder didn’t stop there. In a bold proposal, Scholes backed the idea of retaining Rasmus Hojlund while also recruiting Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres alongside Osimhen — creating a lethal attacking trio.
“Why not bring them all in? Hojlund stays, Osimhen comes in, Gyokeres too — you need options, you need depth,” Scholes added.
United have already taken a step toward reinforcing their attack, completing a move for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, but the pressure continues to mount on the club’s leadership to add proven goal-scorers who can fire the Red Devils back into contention both domestically and in Europe.
Osimhen, known for his pace, aerial dominance, and lethal finishing, has long been linked with a Premier League switch, and United are widely viewed as a suitable destination. However, they will face competition from other top European sides.
With the summer transfer window heating up, all eyes are now on Manchester United’s recruitment team to see if they will act on Scholes’ advice — and deliver the marquee striker fans have been craving.
