Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has praised his Galatasaray teammates for their resilience and determination in securing a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe in their Turkish Cup clash, emphasizing the importance of bouncing back after a recent defeat.
Galatasaray entered the cup match following a setback against Besiktas, which ended their impressive 27-game unbeaten run in the league. The Fenerbahçe encounter provided an immediate opportunity to rectify the previous result.

Osimhen’s early brace silenced the hostile home crowd, establishing Galatasaray’s dominance. Despite Fenerbahçe’s response through Sebastian Szymanski, Galatasaray held on for the victory, eliminating their rivals from the cup.
In his post-match interview, Osimhen acknowledged the intensity of the derby and the fans’ disappointment after the Besiktas loss.
“First of all, we know that Fenerbahçe matches are intense and difficult matches. We needed to focus until the final whistle. We were optimistic when we came in, but we made our fans unhappy in the last match. We had to win to make up for that. We will look ahead. We will go match by match,” he stated.
He also expressed his appreciation for his teammates’ contributions. “I love Galatasaray very much. Of course, it is important to score goals in the derby, but I would not have been able to score these goals if my teammates did not do very important things. I will continue to do everything I can for the team,” Osimhen added.
Osimhen further reiterated his affection for the club and its supporters, vowing to repay their support with strong performances.
“I’ve said it before, since I came here I’ve loved this place, this club, the people here. I want to reciprocate their love by working hard. It was important to score in the derby, but I would also like to thank my teammates. I want to continue this performance and do my best for this team,” he concluded.
