Remo Stars Ladies’ star forward, Bolaji Olamide, has declared her team is under no pressure and firmly believes they can make history by winning the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title this weekend, following the men’s team’s recent triumph in the NPFL.
In an interview on Day 2 of the Super Six playoffs, despite not scoring in the first game, Olamide exuded confidence.
She said, “Actually, I’m not under any pressure. Not scoring in the first game didn’t really bother me because I have a very supportive coach, Coach Gafar. She keeps encouraging me and believes in me. She always tells me, ‘Don’t worry, you’ll get it right in the next game. Just take your time, stay calm. Don’t worry about how many players are marking you. You’ll still find your moment.’ That support keeps me focused.”

When asked about her priority between the Golden Boot and the league title, Olamide’s team-first mentality shone through.
“Winning the league, of course. Anybody on my team can score. If an opponent thinks they can stop me, I’m confident someone else will step up and get the goal. It’s about the team,” she added.
Despite being just two goals behind the league’s top scorer, Marachi, with 15 goals to Marachi’s 17, Olamide is determined to push on.
She said, “Yes, definitely. I’m trusting God and I’m not stopping now. I want to keep pushing forward and hopefully break some records along the way.”
Remo Stars Ladies have started the Super Six with a perfect record, winning their first two matches. When questioned if this creates added pressure, Olamide remained resolute.
“No, it hasn’t changed anything. Our mindset remains the same. Our slogan this season is ‘Operation Win All Matches.’ Two games are done, three more to go. I have faith in God that we will accomplish our goal,” she added.
Remo Stars Ladies are leading the Super Six standings after two matches, showcasing their strong form. Historically, no club in Nigerian football has ever won both the men’s and women’s top-flight leagues in the same season, making Remo Stars Ladies’ ambition a truly historic one.
