Multiple Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas has revealed a gym mishap that has left her with a painful and embarrassing forehead injury, just as her 2025 season is about to begin.
Thomas, known for her meticulously planned training regimen, detailed the incident on her TikTok account. The 28-year-old sprinter, who typically dedicates Tuesdays to sprinting and weightlifting, suffered the injury while performing snatches, a routine exercise she has been doing for years.
“I am so mad right now, I was in the weight room doing snatches, something I do all the time, I have been doing it for about a decade now. It’s my job and I hit myself up on the head and now I have a knot,” Thomas shared with her followers.

The injury, described as a “golf ball in the middle of the head,” has caused Thomas both physical pain and embarrassment, particularly as she has media commitments scheduled for the week and weekend. “Never mind the fact that it is embarrassing. I have media stuff this week and this weekend. We have a self-by-self quest coming this week so I am just hoping that it goes away,” she said.
Thomas is hoping that icing the injury will help reduce the swelling. She also asked her followers for tips on how to quickly heal the knot. “Hopefully, if I go home and ice it, it will just go away. Let me know if you have any tips to get rid of that. I am so mad, this is literally something only I would do,” she added.
Fortunately, the injury is not expected to derail Thomas’s 2025 season. The Olympic champion, who won gold in the 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay in Paris last year, is set to open her season at the Grand Slam Track, beginning with the first leg in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 4.
The Grand Slam Track also includes legs in Miami, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, after which Thomas will focus on the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, in September.
