NWFL Super 6: Olasubomi Ogundele’s goal earn Remo stars Ladies victory against Edo Queens

Defending champions Edo Queens suffered a heartbreaking 0-1 defeat to Remo Stars Ladies in a captivating Super Six encounter on Saturday. 

The closely contested match saw Remo Stars Ladies snatch a late victory in a game dominated for large stretches by Edo Queens.

The decisive moment arrived in the 85th minute when Olasubomi Ogundele of Remo Stars Ladies expertly converted a free-kick, leaving Edo Queens with little time to respond. 

Despite a flurry of late attempts to find an equaliser, the determined Edo Queens attack was ultimately thwarted.

While the result was a setback, the Edo Queens players earned praise for their spirited performance. They controlled the tempo of the game for the majority of the encounter, launching numerous attacks on the Remo Stars Ladies’ goal. 

However, they found an inspired opponent in Remo Stars Ladies’ goalkeeper, Charlotte Adjie, who pulled off a string of impressive saves to keep her team in the contest and ultimately secure the win.

Edo Queens’ goalkeeper, Morufa Ademola, also showcased her talent with several crucial saves, highlighting the quality and competitiveness on display from both sides. 

The match truly lived up to its billing as a Super Six showpiece, with both teams demonstrating championship potential.

Despite the narrow defeat, the spirit in the Edo Queens camp remains unbroken. 

The team will be looking to bounce back swiftly as their Super Six campaign continues. They are scheduled to face Rivers Angels on Monday, May 12th, 2025, and will undoubtedly be determined to secure a positive result.
