Akwa United pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory over Enyimba in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 23 encounter in Uyo.
The win marked the Promise Keepers’ first in eight league outings.
Jacob Ogunleye gave Akwa United the lead in the 26th minute, but Enyimba’s Issah Mohammed leveled the score nine minutes before the break.
However, Uche Sabastine secured the winner for the hosts 15 minutes from time.
The victory propelled Akwa United to 18th position with 23 points.
Meanwhile, in Port Harcourt, Rivers United defeated Lobi Stars 1-0, thanks to Timothy Zechariah’s winning goal two minutes from time.
The win marked Finidi George’s side’s first victory in six league games, and they now occupy third place in the table with 38 points from 23 matches.
