Nigerian striker Ndifreke Effiong has completed a move back to Iraqi League outfit Newroz Sports Club.
The 26-year-old forward previously played for Al-Naft SC and Al-Quwa-Al-Jaw in the Middle East before joining Newroz SC from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United.
Ndifreke has been unveiled by the club after passing a mandatory medical test.
The bulky striker had an impressive stint with Rivers United this season, registering four goals and one assist in 14 league matches.
This is not Ndifreke’s first foray into the Iraqi League, having previously played for Al-Naft SC and Al-Quwa-Al-Jaw.
His experience and goal-scoring prowess are expected to be valuable assets to Newroz Sports Club.
Ndifreke’s trophy cabinet includes the NPFL title with Akwa United in 2021. He also won a bronze medal with Nigeria’s U-23 team at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
