Nigerian Hockey clubs gear up for African Championship in Egypt

Nigerian hockey clubs are preparing to compete in the prestigious Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) in Ismailia, Egypt.

The 35th men’s and 26th women’s editions of the tournament will bring together top hockey teams from across the continent from January 30th to February 7th, 2025.

Nigeria will be represented by three women’s teams: Kada Queens, Plateau Queens, and Delta Queens. In the men’s competition, Kada Stars and Niger Flickers will fly the Nigerian flag.

The Nigerian contingent is expected to face stiff competition from established hockey nations like Egypt, Ghana, and Uganda.

The tournament’s pool draw has placed Kada Stars and Niger Flickers in Pool A alongside defending champions El Sharkia and Port Fouad of Egypt, as well as Kenya’s Western Jaguar.

In the women’s category, Kada Queens and Delta Queens have been drawn together in Pool A, while Plateau Queens will compete in Pool B.

The Nigerian teams have expressed their readiness to give their all and make their nation proud at the championship.
