Rwanda’s assistant coach, Eric Nshimiyimana, has boldly predicted that the Super Eagles will leave Kigali empty-handed, failing to secure the vital three points they desperately need in their World Cup qualifier clash on Friday, March 21st.
With Nigeria’s qualification hopes hanging in the balance, they face a must-win situation against Rwanda’s Amavubi. However, the hosts are equally determined to avoid defeat, which would allow Nigeria to close the gap in Group C.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, representing head coach Adel Amrouche, Nshimiyimana exuded confidence. “We’re not under any pressure because we already have our 7 points, so Nigeria are the ones under pressure because they need these points too but they will not get it,” he stated.
Nshimiyimana, recently appointed alongside Amrouche, expressed his hope that the current Rwandan team can replicate the success of past sides that have denied Nigeria victory on Rwandan soil.
The two nations have a recent history, having met in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where Rwanda secured four points, drawing in Kigali and winning in Uyo. This history adds an extra layer of tension to the upcoming encounter.
