Referee Chidiebere was the centre official for the NWFL match between Ibom Angels FC and Naija Ratels, played in Uyo on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Following the game, reports indicated that his decisions significantly and negatively impacted the final outcome.
The NFF’s statement specifically cited Chidiebere’s award of an “unjustified penalty” that was deemed not in accordance with the Laws of the Game.
The committee stated that his actions not only affected the match result but also brought the integrity of the game into disrepute.
As a consequence of this assessment, the NFF has directed that Umeh Kingsley Chidiebere be stepped down from officiating all league matches and any other footballing assignments with immediate effect.
