NEC FC knocked out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup

The die-hards journey in the local competition came to an end on Tuesday at their own slaughter-house, falling short of last year’s milestone where they reached finals.

Uganda Premier League giants, NEC FC have been dumped out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 2-0 defeat to Blacks Power FC in the round of 32.

Holding a good record whenever they host games at MTN Omondi Stadium, this time round it was a different story for Mbalangu’s charges.

Innocent Maduka and Joshua Omara second half goals sealed the victory for Black Powers on the enemy territory.

At halftime, the closely contested tie ended in a goalless draw, with neither side finding back of the net.

The hosts had a chance to lead after re-start but penalty taker Paul Mucureezi fumbled the opportunity from 12 yards when he initiated a double touch on the ball.

The moment re-energized the opposition, putting two strikes past the NEC goalkeeper on duty, Benjamin Ochan.

The FUFA Big League entity under the stewardship of Bob Obira advance to next round whilst NEC joins the long list of first division clubs that have suffered upsets at such an early stage.
