Mozambique game is so important- Put to players

Uganda are set to take on Mozambique this Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Cairo International Stadium in a Crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

Cranes in quest to step at the global showpiece, will be hoping to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat to Algeria in their last outing nine months ago at Namboole in Kampala.

Speaking ahead of the showdown in Cairo, head coach Paul Put revealed how he was impressed with display from the lads in preparations for the duel against the Mozambicans.

“What I saw on the training ground, I was very happy about their performance, about their mentality, and I think it will be important for the game. You know, if you want to be dominant in your ranking, every game is important. We know that Mozambique is three points ahead of us, so it is always an important game.” Said Put.

Additionally, the Belgian tactician called upon his players to replicate the same performances witnessed in training onto the pitch, stressing the significance of the upcoming clash.

“If you have ambition, if you want really to get good results, then you have to see what you can do. And away games are always a difficult thing, but I think that my players will understand that for us it’s a very important game, but for Mozambique it’s also an important game.”

The opponents Mozambique have been a force to reckon with in recent times on continent and currently they are runners-up behind leaders, Algeria in group G.
