The final game of match week 19 in the Startimes Uganda Premier League came to pass on Sunday in Wankulukuku.
SC Villa making a return at Muteesa II Stadium succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against the Mbili Mbili of Maroons FC.
A goal in each half from Raymond Walugembe and Abel Michael Eturude saw Maroons put a stop to a four winless streak in the league.
A quick start from the blues, custodian Simon Tamale was forced into a save as early as in the 2nd minute after a long-range attempt from Sula Matovu.
Eight minutes later, Raymond Walugembe broke the deadlock to put the visitors ahead on the foreign territory.
The opening 45 minutes of football ended 1-0 in favor of Maroons, with Villa on horizon to suffer a second consecutive loss and first at home.
After recess, Morley Byekwaso made three changes, introducing Charles Lwanga, isaac Mpagi, and Johnson Ssenyonga in search of a potential equalizer.
In the 66 minute, Tamale made another crucial save to deny Matovu from a free kick after a foul on Lwanga at edge of the box by Basoga.
Abel Eturude was back to haunt his former paymasters, doubling the lead for Maroons in the 80th minute though he didn’t celebrate.
Following the victory, Maroons ascended to the 8th place with 27 points, displacing the Jogoos who dropped to 9th (24points).
