Lugazi scramble past purple sharks to keep survival hopes alive

The leaders continued their fairytale start to the second term of the Startimes Uganda Premier with yet another win on Sunday.

Lugazi FC beat the purple sharks of Wakiso Giants 1-0 to make it two wins in a row since the revival of league action.

Just like the result picked from their previous enconter against Police FC, the visitors from Wakiso became the latest victims.

Abdul Kalanzi goal from the spot in the 54th minute saw the hosts retain all the three points in Najjembe.

This was his second goal on the bounce having netted also the winner in the cops triumph in a similar fashion.

New signing Joseph Othieno was named as the fans player of the match at full time on his maiden game as a Lugazi player.

The debutants open a 7 point gap above the relegation zone as their survival chances in the top-flight start to surge.

Lugazi FC elevate to the 10th spot on the log, 20 points from 17 matches whilst Wakiso Giants stayed 14th in the red zone on 13 points.
