Former Enyimba and Kwara United coach Samson Unuanel has said Saturday’s 2025 President Federation Cup final between Kwara United and Abakaliki FC will be “too difficult to predict,” citing the determination and hunger both teams have shown en route to the final.
The showdown is set to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, and is already being billed as one of the most exciting cup finals in recent memory.
Kwara United will be hoping to bring home the prestigious national trophy for the first time since 1976, when Alyufsalam Rocks fell short against Enugu Rangers. But standing in their way is Abakaliki FC, a club chasing a historic first Federation Cup title for Ebonyi State.

“It will be difficult to predict this game because the two teams have displayed good fighting spirit and determination to lift the trophy,” Unuanel said.
“Their road to the final is not a fluke, so it will be unfair to say a particular team will win the Federation Cup.
I see a tough game, but the team with the zeal and hunger in the final will carry the day.”
Abakaliki FC’s fairytale journey to the final has won them plenty of admirers, having knocked out several top-flight sides. Kwara United, meanwhile, have shown consistency and resilience throughout the competition, with many tipping them to finally end the state’s decades-long wait for national silverware.
Beyond the silverware, both teams are also fighting for a continental ticket. The winner will earn the right to represent Nigeria in the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup, adding more significance to an already high-stakes encounter.
