Kiwanuka, UPDF promise to bring down NEC

UPDF FC play host to NEC FC this Friday at Bombo Military Ground in match day 22 of the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

The Army side were 1-0 victors last week against Wakiso Giants FC at Kabaka kyabaggu Stadium, and will be hoping to build on this result.

NEC FC, who are currently in the title chase and second in division, thumped Express FC 3-1 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Speaking ahead of the duel, UPDF head coach Paul Kiwanuka was optimistic that are they determined to bring down the visitors despite their superiority.

“It won’t be an easy game because NEC are fighting for the title but we are also fighting for good positions on the table.” Kiwanuka said in pre-match interview

“Every player and all the coaches are aware about that and the only way of improving our performance and table standings is getting maximum points against NEC tomorrow.” he added

NEC FC defeated the Soldier boys of UPDF 1-0 in the first meeting of the season played in September 2024, Rashid Okocha with a late winner in Lugogo.

The complexity in this bout is that UPDF welcome a side on mission after seeing leaders Vipers re-establish a five point gap in the 1-0 win over Lugazi FC.
