Ikwaput scores twice as Kerala cruise past Odisha in India

The Ugandan International was back on the scoring charts after failing to register a goal in the previous round on resumption of the Indian Women’s League (IWL)

Crested Cranes striker Fazila Ikwaput bagged a brace in Gokulam Kerala FC 3-1 thrashing over defending champions, Odisha FC on Saturday.

Pyari Xaxa connected in her own net to hand the malabarians a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute before Ikwaput first goal at stroke of the opening half.

Newcomer Neha pulled one back for Odisha, 5 minutes into the second stanza at Malinga Stadium, with the hosts in gear for a potential comeback.

Player of the match, Ikwaput once again found back of the net in the 59th minute, taking her tally to 16 goals in 8 matches this season.

New signing and compatriot Sharon Namatovu was unused substitute as Kerala recorded a sixth consecutive win in the League.

Gokulam Kerala are second on the standings with 20 points, just one adrift of leaders, East Bengal FC who have another Ugandan Resty Nanziri in their ranks.
