The Ugandan International can’t stop scoring ever since she made a return in Asian country to play for the Malabarians in the Indian Women’s League.
Fazila Ikwaput was once again at the heart of Gokulam Kerala FC’s triumph as her stunning hat-trick helped the Malabarians cruise to a dominant 3-0 win over Sribhumi FC on Wednesday.
The in-form player from Uganda handed Kerala a fairytale start as early in the 9th minute, opening the score at EMT Corporation Stadium.
In a space of four minutes, Ikwaput made it 2-0 to complete a brace following a defense lapse in the opponents penalty box.
The match was effectively put to bed in the 64th minute, and unsurprisingly, it was league top-scorer, Ikwaput who did the damage.
Compatriot and new signing Sharon Namatovu was thrown into the fray towards the end, replacing Nongmaithem Ratanbala Devi in the 86th minute.
Ikwaput extended her tally to 19 goals this season, tightening her grip on the league’s Golden Boot race and reaffirming her status as the most lethal forward in the division.
Gokulam Kerala in chase for a silverware, are now second on the standings, with 23 points in 10 games, 4 adrift of leaders East Bengal FC.
