Ikwaput and two other Crested Cranes Stars on scoresheet in India

The Indian Women’s League (IWL) is a home to a number of Ugandan athletes who feature for different clubs in the Asian country.

Three Crested Cranes Internationals were on target following the conclusion of match day eleven in the Indian top-flight division on Tuesday evening.

Fazila Ikwaput who scored his 20th goal of the campaign, headlines the list alongside Joanita Ainembabazi and former Kampala Queens player, Resty Nanziri.

The ever-present Ikwaput scored the lone and decesive goal in Gokulam Kerala hard fought 1-0 victory over Sethu FC at EMS Cooperation Stadium.

Resty Nanziri got his name on the scoresheet as leaders East Bengal hammered bottom side, Hops 6-1 to keep their hopes for a maiden title alive.

Joan Ainembabazi wraps up the scoring figures having netted once at Kalinga stadium in KickStart’s 2-2 stalemate against former champions, Odisha FC.

Possibility to see a Ugandan lifting the championship this season is high, Nanziri’s East Bengal is in pole position on 30 points, 4 ahead of Fazila’s Kerala.
