Heartland Queens of Owerri’s new signing, Mary Popoola has expressed her readiness to contribute to the team’s ambitions.
The Defensive midfielder joined from Sunshine Queens, shared her enthusiasm with the club’s media department.

“I’m quite aware that Heartland Queens made it to the NWFL Super Six last year, and I’m here to help the team achieve that mileage again this season. I want to experience the tournament and bring my best to the squad,” she said.
Heartland Queens will begin their 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season against Ekiti Queens in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, January 15.
Under the guidance of coach Obi Ogbala, the Owerri-based side has expressed optimism and high hopes for the campaign.
The team boasts a blend of experienced players and promising young talent, fostering confidence in their ability to play attractive football and compete for top honors, including a coveted spot in continental competitions.
Heartland Queens are determined to improve upon their performance from last season, which saw them achieve a credible and impressive run to the 2024 NWFL Super Six tournament held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
