Gateway United bags double awards at inaugural NNL monthly Honors

Gateway United FC emerged as the biggest winners at the inaugural NNL Monthly Awards, clinching two prestigious honors—Best Behaved Team and Goal of the Month, courtesy of Taofeek Babatunde’s stunning strike.

Receiving the awards in Abuja, the acting General Manager Niyi Soleye, expressed his excitement about the initiative, which recognizes players and teams for their performances each month. He believes the awards will serve as motivation for Gateway United to push harder in the ongoing campaign.

Babatunde Taofeek’s brilliant curler in the 2-0 victory over First Bank on Matchday 6 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena stood out as the best goal of the month. The striker received the ball on the right flank, drove towards the edge of the box, and unleashed a curling effort that struck the crossbar before ricocheting into the net—a goal with no close contender.

Gateway United was awarded Best Behaved Team for their discipline and professionalism, teamwork and unity, sportsmanship and fair play, respect and courtesy, as well as a clean disciplinary record.

With these accolades, Gateway United FC continues to set the standard both on and off the pitch in the NNL.
