FTWSL: Kawempe falter as newbies Amus, Tooro emerge triumph

The Uganda women’s topflight division, Finance Trust Women Super League finally made return after a one month spell on a break.

Three games of match week twelve were played at different venues across the country on Saturday morning.

For the second consecutive time, former champions and holders Kawempe Muslim failed to secure maximum points upon resumption of the league.

The valley warriors were held to a goalless draw by Makerere University WFC inside the campus grounds. This was Kawempe’s fourth stalemate of the campaign, and fifth overall for the hosts.

Elsewhere, entrants Tooro Queens beat Rines SS WFC 2-1 at Kabaka kyabaggu Stadium. Mary Kabaculezi and captain Imelda Kasemire were on target for the visitors while Nakato Nanyanzi strike from the spot halved the deficit.

In Kitende, Wakiso Hill WFC winless run stretched further after a 1-0 defeat to third placed Amus College WFC. Edina Wanda scored the lone goal of the game.

Action in the Finance Trust Women Super continues League to unfold on Sunday. She Corporate FC welcome Lady Doves at their new home, Olila H/S visit Maroons and Uganda Martyrs host leaders, Kampala Queens.
