Finished – Lookman refuses to comment on Gasperini ‘Worst Penalty taker’ statement

Ademola Lookman has refused to confirm whether his row with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini is in the past.

The Nigerian winger was involved in a heated exchange with Gasperini after the Italian criticized him for taking a penalty in last Tuesday’s home loss to Club Brugge.

When asked by Sky Sport Italia if the issue with Gasperini was resolved, Lookman declined to answer, simply shrugging and looking around before saying, “Finished?”

The 27-year-old did, however, comment on Atalanta’s 5-0 win over Empoli on Sunday night, saying, “The team won 5-0 today, we put in a good performance, everyone was at a high level and we showed quality.”

Lookman, who scored a brace in the win, added, “We take every game as they come. We played well today, we have to continue this way and prepare for the next.”

The Nigerian winger’s refusal to bury the hatchet with Gasperini was further highlighted when he shook hands with assistant manager Tullio Gritti after being substituted in the 73rd minute, but not with Gasperini.

The row between Lookman and Gasperini has cast a shadow over Atalanta’s season, and it remains to be seen whether the two can put their differences aside and work together for the rest of the campaign.
