FIFA places an International Football ban on Congo

Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) came out to suspend one of the football Associations running it’s operations on the African continent.

In a detailed notice released on Thursday, the global football body confirmed suspension of the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) from February 6, 2025 until further notice.

The International ban from any related football activity is due to alleged third-party inference in FECOFOOT affairs, an action that violates it’s obligations under the FIFA’s statutes.

This decision means the local Federation in Congo-Brazzaville loses all it’s member rights, as defined in Article 13 of of the FIFA Statutes, with immediate effect.

Further more, national teams and and affiliated clubs will nolonger take part in international competitions until the suspension has been lifted.

FECOFOOT members and officials will nolonger benefit from the development programmes, courses and training offered by FIFA or Confederation of African Football (CAF) union.
