FIFA celebrates ‘Agba Baller’ Asisat Oshoala

The world football governing body, FIFA has celebrated Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala.

The Women’s World Cup, via their official X handle (formerly Twitter), celebrated the current Bay FC forward.

Oshoala has been a big influence in Nigerian and African football.

The former FC Robo protege holds the record for the most CAF Women’s Player of the Year awards.

She joined Bay FC in February 2024 after a successful stint with FC Barcelona Femení, where she made 162 appearances and scored 117 goals, becoming the club’s fourth-highest goalscorer. During her time at Barcelona, she won 14 trophies, including two trebles.

At Bay FC, Oshoala has continued her impressive form, making 26 appearances and scoring 8 goals as of January 2025.

As she prepares to represent Nigeria at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco later this year, Oshoala will be aiming to help the Super Falcons reclaim the title after their previous loss to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.
