Super Falcons and Everton Women midfielder Toni Payne has been nominated for the Barclays WSL February Player of the Month award.
She is in contention alongside Arsenal’s Salma Paralluelo and Frida Maanum, Everton’s Kelly Gago, and Brighton’s Elisabeth Terland.
After a challenging start to life in England following her summer move from Sevilla, the 29-year-old is beginning to find her rhythm at Everton. Payne provided three assists in February, earning her a spot on the nomination list.

Everton Women currently sit 8th in the WSL standings. Reacting to her nomination on the club’s official website, Payne expressed her excitement about settling into the league:
“It definitely feels good. You know, it’s my first time in the WSL, and I knew it would be a challenge at first. But I think I’m finally catching my stride here.”
She also shared her thoughts ahead of Everton’s next match against Arsenal, saying, “I’m happy. I’m excited to face Arsenal on Friday. You know, they’re a great team with amazing players, but I think we’re gaining confidence, especially after our performance against Chelsea.
“I believe we can only improve from here. I just hope we’re ready and can get something out of the game.”
With European qualification looking unlikely—Everton currently trails Arsenal by 17 points—the club will be relying on Payne to maintain her impressive form as they aim to solidify their place in the league.
