Sprint star Favour Ofili has officially switched her sporting nationality from Nigeria to Turkey, following repeated administrative failures by Nigerian athletics bodies that cost her two Olympic appearances.
In 2021, Ofili missed the Tokyo Olympics 200m after the AFN and the National Anti-Doping Committee (NADC) failed to get her tested in time—a mishap that also affected 13 other Nigerian athletes.

According to top athletics reporter Kenny Raynor (@kayraynor), Ofili lodged a formal complaint with the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) and began the transfer process on May 31st.
Her move was reportedly driven by years of neglect and frustration over Nigeria’s sports administration.
To compound the situation, the same AFN leadership responsible for the blunders was re-elected in June 2025, further disillusioning the LSU sprinter.
Ofili’s switch to Turkey comes as a major blow to Team Nigeria’s sprint prospects, especially ahead of Paris 2024, where she was widely seen as a medal contender.
