Ethiopia soccer team touch down in Kampala for Uganda clash

The Lucy are finally in the Pearl of Africa for the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifier against the hosts Uganda.

The Ethiopia women’s national team touched down in the capital, Kampala after a two-hour flight from Bole International Airport

Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, the delegation from Ethiopia was welcomed by Major General Kumsa Shanko, the Chief Military commander of the Ethiopian embassy in Uganda.

Other officials that received them include Mr. Robel Admasu, the head of political affairs of the Ethiopian embassy in Uganda and Mr. Mohammed Suileman.

Even members of the Ethiopian community living in Uganda were present to usher in the cohort in the foreign territory.

The national team landed at Alton Garden Hill as they proceed with other arrangements. Ethiopia confront Uganda in the first leg of the 2026 play-offs this Friday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The return leg will played five days later in Addis Ababa five after the showdown in Kampala. The winner here takes on either Tanzania or former champions Equatorial Guinea in the final round.
