Ethiopia demolish Djibouti 7-0 in preparations for WAFCON opponents Uganda

The Lucy had their final friendly of the two preparatory games arranged against Djibouti ahead of the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers.

Ethiopia once again ran riot, putting 7 unanswered goals past the visitors at Abebe Bikila Stadium on Sunday.

Brace hero Emush Daniel, Senaf Wakuma, Merkat Feleke, Mahlet Mitku, and Young Princess forward Aregash Kalsa were on target for Ethiopia.

A Djibouti player had one in her own net in the rout. That’s 17-0 on aggregate overall in the two friendlies, Ethiopia having won the first contest 10-0 at the same venue.

The highest ranked nation in women’s football in East Africa now turn focus on the forthcoming continental Qualifiers.

Uganda host the first leg of the 2026 WAFCON Qualifiers this Friday, February 21, 2025 at Hamz Stadium.The return leg will be played 5 days later in Addis Ababa.

The winner here meets either Tanzania or former champions Equatorial Guinea in the final qualification round. Morocco are hosts of the women’s premier competition.
